Apple’s HomePod with a 7-inch screen will be launched in 2024, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, a senior analyst who knows a thing or two about Apple’s future plans.
The next HomePod speaker will offer users a screen that displays updates, more extensive control over music from Apple Music, Spotify, and more. Users will also be able to see incoming messages and calls and ask Siri to reply or answer a call.
The interface is expected to be a scaled-down version of the iOS operating system for iPhones. According to Kuo, the next speaker is expected to be released next year.
Apple is currently exploring the smart home category by developing and experimenting with a number of products, including a complete entertainment system that includes the Apple TV, HomePod, and Siri with a touch screen.
Another product they’re working on is an iPad with a streamlined interface that can be attached to a docking station and to any magnet-supporting surface. It doesn’t sound like a product that will be released by Apple, but more of an experiment in climbing products that may not come out of Apple’s Cupertino labs.
